Welcome Home - Project Needs.
Zaclon River Landing will provide the public with park-like amenities and access to the Cuyahoga River. The buildings on the site
will provide boathouse infrastructure for CWRU Crew. Outside of the buildings = Public. Inside of the buildings = Private Boathouse.
Immediate Need - Working Capital to Fund the Grants.
We have been immensely fortunate to be awarded three grants totaling $1.6 million from the State of Ohio and Cuyahoga County. These
grants are reimbursable grants -- meaning we have to pay for the work then get reimbursed. Therefore, we need working capital to
fund the remediation of the site and build the dock & ramp.
Once work is complete and we're reimbursed, we will use the working capital to pay for all of the internal improvements to the buildings -
turning them into a boathouse for the team.
Near Term Need - Turn the Buildings into Boathouse Infrastructure.
The sky is the limit! There are three buildings on the site. The main boathouse building could house full workout facilities, shell storage,
lockers, bathrooms, trophy room, coach's offices, etc. The total build-out eventually will be millions -- wouldn't that be amazing!
However, in the near term we absolutely need enough donations to turn the "clean shell" of the buildings into a minimum viable boathouse.
We need bay doors, we need shell racks, we need a security system, etc. To achieve a standard the team currently enjoys at the Cleveland
Rowing Foundation (clean, secure building with serviceable bathrooms) will be on the order of $100-900k.
Long Term Need - Preeminence on the Cuyahoga.
We mentioned it before, if you can dream it, we'll build it. The site would be perfect for a public water stop, event space that could be rented overlooking
downtown, etc. To boost revenue potential, we'd like to turn the smaller maintenance shed into a kayak club. The site is mostly covered
by asphalt, and turning it over to greenspace beyond the grants we've already received would be terrific for the area.
