Tenth Annual Cleveland Collegiate Regatta
March 24, 2012
Below are the results from the annual Cleveland Collegiate Regatta (name changed from the Home Schools Regatta in 2011).
The race is held as a tune up each spring for the college teams rowing out of the
Cleveland Rowing Foundation boathouse:
Case Western Reserve University,
Cleveland State University
and John Carroll University.
This year there were 6 races with three races having heats to see who made the 2-boat final. Each of the heats had all three teams entered and was a
500m sprint through the Flats from NS1 to the Nautica Pavilion.
The top two finishers in the 500m heat immediately turned around and headed upstream to race side-by-side down the new course from NS1 to the new boathouse.
The course was 1750m (with two large bends) and a floating start on the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. The "final only" races followed the 1750m course.
The winner of the final races in each event earned a point
for their school. Conditions during the day were unseasonably warm and beautiful with a light breeze.
